The Purpose of Silver Star Bible School:

1. To provide an oasis in the Pacific Northwest to which Bible loving people, young and old, from near and far, may resort for serious, concentrated study of the Word of God.
2. To provide, in this meditative atmosphere, a few days of healthy relaxation among the glories of God’s handiwork.

Introduction to School Requirements

The Bible School committee has given much time and thought to arrange these few days of fellowship and spiritual upbuilding. The success of the School will depend largely on your participation in group activities, on your adherence to school requirements and the manner in which you conduct yourself. We have attempted to keep the rules to a minimum to permit as much individual freedom as possible, yet adequate enough to ensure an orderly and beneficial School. To some, part of the rules may seem unnecessary, but let us always remember that there are others who would be offended if such rules were not observed. The aim of your committee has been to establish a high level of spiritual fellowship, and if each one attending makes this their aim too, all will benefit to the utmost.

Fellowship

Silver Star Bible School meets exclusively on the basis of the Birmingham Amended Statement of Faith. Participation in the Memorial Service will be restricted to members of ecclesias who meet solely with Brethren and Sisters in the Central Fellowship, without exception.

Controversial Issues

The committee requests that controversial issues not be discussed anywhere or anytime during the School. The School is not to be used as a tool for advancing individual or group thought of any controversial nature.

Your Campsite/Cabin

• Please rise in the morning in ample time to be ready for breakfast.
• Please keep your site clean and tidy.
• Please be on your site/in your cabin by 10:30 p.m. and do not disturb others after this time. Quiet discussion is permissible as long as it is not at the expense of someone else’s sleep.
Meals
• Do not enter the Dining area until notified. Please leave the Dining Hall when the meal is over. Bible School is an opportunity to meet others of like precious faith. May we suggest that you make an effort to sit with different people and at different tables during each meal so that the same group isn’t continually together. All young people from babies up to, and including, age 12 must be seated at tables with their parents or guardians.
• For all meals parents are to seat children ten years old and under at the table and to bring their food to them. 11 and 12 year old children are to be with an adult as they go through the buffet line to ensure that the food is handled properly using the utensils provided. No bare hands are to touch food in the buffet line at any time.
• As you enter the dining area there will be waterless hand cleanser on a table in the middle of the hall which is to be used by everyone before you get to the buffet tables or go into the dining room itself.

Rest Rooms

Please keep all rest room facilities clean; others must use them too.

Canteen

A canteen will be open after the 2nd class in the morning, after the afternoon readings and after the evening meeting. Please put all candy wrappers and other garbage in the containers provided.

Smoking

It is requested NO SMOKING on the Bible School grounds, around the buildings or in the wooded areas.

Dress

It is requested that all sisters and young ladies wear modest apparel (dresses or skirts, not slacks, jeans or shorts) to classes, evening meetings and meals. Spaghetti straps, short or low cut tops and short skirts, long revealing slits or bared midriffs are not acceptable at any time. Brethren and young men are requested to wear shirts and trousers (not jeans). Sports attire may be worn during recreation only (not to meals or at any other time). With the exception of ear rings, body piercing jewelry is not to be worn. Care should be taken that attire does not appear immodest or offensive to others at any time. Formal dress is required for the Memorial meeting.

Classes

Students should always arrive on time and take seats promptly. Please be in your seats when the class opens and do not leave before the end of the session. Please co-operate with your instructor. Do not interrupt him while he is lecturing and do not ask questions unless he announces that questions are in order. It is expected that students will attend all sessions of the classes except for sickness or other duties connected with the School. Preceding the General Assembly and Memorial Meeting there will be five minutes of music. Please remain quiet.

Audio Recordings

Recordings will be made of all adult classes and copies will be available to those who wish to order them.

Leaving the Grounds

For the proper conduct of the Bible School, it is desirable that everyone remain on the grounds at all times, except for organized activities which will be announced.

Dogs

Dogs are to be left at home.

Things to Bring to Bible School

Piano or Organ

The piano or organ may be used if no meetings are in progress, but please – Sacred Music only.

Teenage Classes and Rules

• Young people are expected to be present for all meals, classes and organized activities and will not be permitted to leave Silver Star except by special permission. You are also expected to be on time. Young people will be asked to help with the school.
• If you are sick you are to report to the nurse; you are not permitted to stay in your room during class.
• Teenage boys must not visit girls’ sites; nor may the girls visit the boys’ sites.
• You are requested to leave your radios at home; we do not wish anything to detract from the spiritual atmosphere.
• For the benefit of all, you are asked to observe the 10:30 p.m. “Quiet”.
• Practical jokes will not be tolerated.

Special Note to Young People and Parents

We request that parents or guardians make it clear to their young people that adherence to the Bible School rules is an essential requirement for attendance at the School. We have given considerable thought and discussion to our responsibilities and feel that what we expect is based on common sense, consideration for others and is in the best interests of all attending.
It is not our desire to dictate to anyone and we would much prefer to treat all young people as adults. However, if any do not behave in a responsible manner we will regretfully have to apply the following rule. Any young person found violating the rules of the School will at once be put under the direct supervision of their parents or guardian. They will be moved to the same room and will share the same table at meal times for the balance of the School.
Parents are asked to keep all children 12 years old and under at the family table for all meals.
